About the Owner
and how In Tune Yoga came to be...

Meet Summer, the founder of In Tune Yoga!  She grew up In Colorado Springs, CO, and after graduating high school moved straight to Nashville, TN. She spent most of her former life pursuing a songwriting and music career (fun fact: you can still find her songs on Spotify and iTunes!). It was in Nashville where she also dove deeper into her yoga practice. After spending 11 years there, Summer realized she was ready to start a new journey and get out of the city's hustle.  She chose to relocate to Taos, NM to be closer to family and because of the skiing. She thought she'd be in Taos only a short while...buuut ended up staying. She has now lived in Taos for eight years. Summer has been practicing yoga for the past 20 years and teaching since 2018.

In November 2020--a time when the world shut down--she felt called to open a yoga studio, which has now become In Tune Yoga. "Not only was there this worldwide pandemic," she says, "but 3 weeks after signing the lease on the studio, I also found out I was pregnant!" (She was also working as a full time restaurant manager at the time she opened her studio).  "I had no investors, no business partners; I just had a little bit of savings sitting in a bank account from years of bartending and restaurant work that I decided to do something with. The timing wasn't ideal with the pandemic and all, but Covid made me realize maybe the timing is never right; sometimes you just have to take the risk! I chose to invest in myself and my dreams."

Although it was risky to open an in-person studio in the height of a global pandemic, it had been Summer's dream for over two years, and she wasn't about to let the opportunity slip away. "The opportunity came and I thought if I didn't grab it, someone else might! And/or I might not get the chance again. I truly believe we're never thrown anything we can't handle," Summer says, "so I pushed forth with plans and started teaching classes right away. At first it was just me teaching classes, but eventually we started adding other teachers to the staff who have become the heart of what we do, along with our students. I am in awe of the spirits we have attracted in our teachers and students."  She wants to do her part to help raise the vibrations in herself, her family, her community, and the planet, as well as provide jobs for other yoga teachers.  In Tune Yoga became the space to do just that.

Why "In Tune Yoga"? Summer likes the idea of people being "in tune" with themselves, their inner power, intuition, and the universe as much as possible.  She likes to push people physically in their yoga practice. In Tune Yoga is the studio for those who want and need yoga in their lives; for those who crave doing something good for their physical and mental self, all while coming together with other wonderful good vibin' souls of the Taos community and the visitors to our sweet town.
Summer believes in living your life in a balance that makes your soul feel good. Join us. We look forward to meeting the magic that is you and guiding you in your yoga practice!

This studio is forever dedicated to the memory of:

His spirit lives on

Huck:

The Littlest Yogi in the Sky

I'm the littlest yogi in the sky

My earth-time was short; I needed to fly

I wasn't quite ready to leave so soon

But you just gotta do what spirit calls you to do

I'm such a happy baby up here in the clouds

I tumble and twirl for the angel crowds

I bend and I twist and I make spirits smile

They say, "That little yogi sure does have style!"

I do Down-Dogs and Warriors ... 1, 2, and 3

My mom taught me yoga, now the angels learn from me!

I know you miss me so much but be proud and don't cry

It was I who was chosen to be the littlest yogi in the sky.
